Before operatives can start logging their tool use, there are three things to set up: a cohort of the people who use vibrating tools, HAVS enrolment for that cohort, and a vibration score for each tool type so Chime can work out their points. It only takes a few minutes. Once it's done, operatives are asked to complete their HAVS log each time they sign out of site.
Getting Ready
Create a cohort of the people who use vibrating tools.
Include everyone who should log HAVS, for example groundworkers, demolition teams or anyone who uses breakers, grinders or drills.
View Creating a Cohort to help with setting up a cohort.
Enrol that cohort in HAVS.
Everyone in the cohort will be asked to complete a HAVS log when they sign out of site.
Set a vibration score for each tool type your operatives use.
Chime doesn't include vibration scores as standard, so you'll need to add them for each equipment.
You'll find this inforation on manufacturer's information online or in HSE guidance.
Let your operatives know.
Point them to Logging Your Tool Use and Submitting Your HAVS Log When You Sign Out.
HAVS is now set up. Enrolled operatives will see the HAVS step when they next sign out of site.
Use Case
Super users and health & safety managers setting up HAVS for the first time.
Tips
Set the vibration scores before operatives start logging. Tools without a score add no points, so their totals will be understated.
As people join or leave the cohort, their HAVS logging starts or stops automatically.
Only one cohort can be enrolled. If several groups need HAVS, create one cohort that includes them all.
