How to quickly add a new contact through the Chime mobile app

Adding a new contact on the Chime mobile app is quick and straightforward. Once added, they will automatically receive an invitation to download and log in to Chime β€” and their details will sync instantly with the web platform, so there is no need for double entry.


How to add a new contact

  1. From the home screen, select the Contacts tile.

  2. Tap the Add New Contact button.

  3. Select the role type.

  4. Select the trade type.

  5. Take a photo of the operative - head and shoulders, no hats, glasses etc.

  6. Enter their:

    • First name

    • Last name

    • Mobile number

  7. Press Next.

The contact is now added to Chime. They will automatically receive a text invitation to download and log in to the app. See

Their details will sync automatically with the address book on the web platform β€” no need to add them twice.


Use Case

This feature is permission-based and is typically used by site managers and above who are responsible for onboarding new operatives onto a site.

  • Make sure the photo is clear and shows the operative's face β€” this is used for identification purposes across the platform.

  • Double-check the mobile number before pressing Next, as the text invitation is sent automatically and cannot be recalled.

  • If the operative doesn't receive their invitation, check the number entered is correct and ask them to check their spam or blocked messages folder.
