Every time an item's location changes, Chime records where it went, who changed it, when, and any comment they added. Location history shows that full record, so you can trace an item's movements rather than only seeing where it is now.
View the history (Web)
Select the Equipment tile and open the Inventory tab.
Open the equipment item.
In the Location section, select View history.
The history opens as a read-only window showing how many changes are recorded, and one row per change:
Location — the site the item moved to. Where the item was marked as no longer on site, this reads Location unspecified.
Comment — whatever was entered with the change, or a dash if nothing was.
Updated by — who made the change.
Updated on — the date and time.
Changes are listed newest first. Switch to Oldest first with the sort control. Select Export to download the same list as a spreadsheet.
If an item has no recorded changes, the window says so rather than appearing empty.
Use Case
Used by Equipment Managers tracing where an item has been, and by Site Managers and Super Users checking when a machine arrived on or left a site — for hire charges, disputes, or an audit trail after a loss.
💡 Tips
Ask people to add a comment when they move an item. A month later, "returned to yard, hydraulic leak" is worth far more than a bare site name.
Export the history when you need to evidence an item's movements outside Chime.
