Site Manager and Supplier Manager Permission Access

Overview of what a Site Manager can access on the Chime Platform & Mobile App

Updated over a week ago

Site Managers and Supplier Managers have access to both the Chime web platform and the mobile app, but their visibility is restricted to the sites they have been allocated to.

They can view key site information, see who is currently on site, review documents and completed forms, and complete approvals.

Supplier Managers have the same overall role level as Site Managers, with one important restriction: their access to contacts and people search is limited to users within their own supplier (subcontractor) company.

NB: Please note that the below are the default Directory Roles for Site Managers within Chime. However, there can be some variation within these roles depending on whether you have additional modules or if you have chosen to switch on or off certain permissions.

What can they access on Web Platform?

Allocated Sites Only

On the web platform, Site Managers and Supplier Managers can only see the sites they have been assigned. They will not have visibility of all sites across the organisation.

Site Details (View Only)

When viewing an allocated site, they can see key site information such as:

  • Identification details and site references

  • Operating hours

  • Client and key people information

They cannot edit the site details.

Site Notes

They can view existing site notes and add new notes via New Site Note.

Who’s On Site

They can view exactly who is currently clocked in on their allocated sites.

Site Directory (Managing Site Access)

They can add people to the Site Directory, which supports visibility in areas like the Key People tile. This can be used to provide additional people with access to view the site.

Site Documents (View Only)

They can view completed site documents for their allocated sites, but they cannot create or set up new documents (for example, they cannot add new RAMS or toolbox talks themselves).

Reporting (Limited View)

They have access to a limited reporting set, including:

  • Current hours

  • Current hours by employer

  • Current hours by trade

These reports do not include any pay rate information.

Forms

They can view completed checklists/forms linked to the site (for example, daily site inspection checklists).

Site Files

Site files are reference documents such as drawings. Site Managers and Supplier Managers can:

  • Add folders

  • Upload files

These files can then be referenced on mobile via the site directory.

Site-Wide Notes

They can access site-wide notes from the top of the web platform screen.

Approvals (Web)

They can complete approvals via:

  • Detailed Approvals

  • Approval by Site

What can they access on Chime Mobile App?

On mobile, Site Managers and Supplier Managers can manage key actions while on the go.

Sign In / Sign Out

They can:

  • Sign in and sign out of sites

  • Sign someone else in and out of sites

  • Search for sites

  • Sign any required site documents

Approvals

They can complete approvals directly in the mobile app, useful when they are frequently away from a desktop.

Who’s On Site

They can view who is signed into any of their allocated sites (mobile version of the web view).

Skills

They can upload their own skills via mobile. Any uploaded skills must be verified by a Super User in the backend before becoming verified.

Site Notes

They can add site notes on mobile (for example, recording deliveries or key site events).

Site Directory

They can search for and view sites within the directory they have access to. From the site view they can also:

  • View site forms (completed checklists for that site)

  • Use the route button to get directions via Google Maps or Apple Maps

Contacts (Key Difference Between Roles)

Both roles can add new contacts via mobile (for example, someone arriving on site for the first time).

However, visibility differs:

  • Site Manager: Can search and view all contacts they have access to, including PAYE employees and supplier (subcontractor) workers.

  • Supplier Manager: Can only search and view contacts who belong to the same supplier as them.

From a contact profile they can also:

  • Sign someone in (for example, if their phone battery has died)

  • View skills

  • Call or text the individual

  • View signed documents

Timesheets

They can view their own weekly timesheet and add comments for the approver to review.

Signed Documents

They can view an audit trail of site documents they have signed (RAMS, toolbox talks, communications, etc.).

Checklists

They can complete checklists/forms that are available to their cohort, including:

  • Saving checklists in progress

  • Returning to complete later

  • Viewing completed forms

Profile and Settings

From their profile, they can access personal settings, including Contact Chime Support via WhatsApp (or messaging depending on device). Support is available 7:30am to 5:30pm.

Key Difference: Site Manager vs Supplier Manager

The main difference in default access is contact visibility:

  • Site Managers can search for and view contacts across direct employees (PAYE) and supplier workers.

  • Supplier Managers are restricted to viewing and searching contacts within their own supplier company only.
