Adding or Changing a User Profile Photo

With appropriate permissions, you can change a user profile

Updated over 2 weeks ago

The profile picture on an individual’s profile is important because it is used by the system for face match when signing in and out. This means the photo must be a clear headshot, taken in good lighting with no hats, sunglasses, or anything obscuring the face.

The very first time a person uses the Chime app, they are required to take a selfie, which becomes their profile picture. With the appropriate permissions, this can later be updated to a clearer or better image.

Changing profile picture on the mobile app

  1. On the home screen, tap your headshot picture.

  2. Underneath your picture, select the pen icon labelled Edit Image.

  3. Take a new photo.

  4. Press Select to confirm.

  5. Your profile picture has now been updated.

Changing a profile picture on the desktop

  1. Select the Address Book tile.

  2. Use the search bar to find the individual.

  3. Click on the individual to open up their profile page.

  4. On the left-hand side, underneath the picture, select Upload File.

  5. Choose a pre-saved image of that individual from your files.

  6. Upload the image — the new profile picture will sync and appear in the individual’s mobile app.

Use Case

Managers, admins, and super-users may later change or update the picture via mobile or desktop, depending on permissions.

💡 Tips

  • Always ensure the image is a clear headshot in good lighting.

  • Avoid hats, sunglasses, or anything that obscures the face — this ensures accurate face match.
