Skill Types

Build up your library of skill types

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Skill Types are the different skills ie. SMSTS or IPAF. Before anyone starts uploading skills, it’s important to ensure all relevant skill types are already created and added to your skills type ‘library’ – this will mean they appear as options in the dropdown menu.

Add a new skill type

  1. Select the Skills tile from the left-hand side.

  2. Click the Skills tab at the top.

  3. Press the Add New button.

  4. A pop-up will appear:

    • Enter the name of your skill type.

❗ Ignore the CSCS Smart Check Scheme option unless you have paid / enabled this service.

Configure Claim Requirements

These are optional by default:

  • Document reference number

  • Valid from

  • Expiry date

  • Photo

  • Tick the box next to any field to make it mandatory when someone uploads this skill.

Press Save.

✅ Your skill type has now been added to your Skills Library and will appear in the dropdown when users upload their skills.

Use Case

This task is typically done by Admin or Super Users when setting up or maintaining the list of skills required for operatives and suppliers. It helps ensure consistency across records and avoids duplicate or incorrect entries.

💡 Tips

  • Create all necessary skill types before onboarding users or collecting certifications.

  • Use clear, standardised naming (e.g. “Manual Handling” vs “M.Handling”) to avoid confusion.

  • You can edit or archive skill types later if needed.
