Assign Approvers for Timesheets

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Every business has its own process for approving timesheets, and Chime allows you to set this up in a way that best suits your projects. For example, you might require approvals in stages — first by a Site Manager, then a Contracts Manager, and finally HR — or you may only need a single approver workflow.

Whatever the setup, a Customer Support Manager can set up a process that works for you.

For example – is you set up a timesheet workflow approval that is Site Manager – Payroll Manager. It will automatically assign whomever the Site Manager is at a particular site as Approver and the Payroll Manager as second approver.

Assign Your Key People

  1. Select Chime Time.

  2. At the top, select the Sites tab.

  3. From the list, select your site.

  4. On the Site Profile page, scroll down to the Key People section.

  5. Click the pen icon to edit approvers.

  6. Select the approver role (e.g., Site Manager)

  7. Search the Address Book for the individual you want to assign.

  8. Select their name and press Save.

  9. That person will now appear as an approver on timesheets.

    • Timesheets will flow through the sequence of approvers you set up (e.g., Site Manager first, then Contracts Manager, then HR).

Use Case

The initial ‘default’ timesheet workflow will be set up by your CSM. Super User, Payroll team member, or Contracts Manager can then assign individuals (additional people) on a site by site basis.

💡 Tips

  • Think about your approval chain carefully — keep it simple where possible to avoid delays.

  • Approvers should always be key people with direct oversight of hours worked.

  • If someone leaves or changes role, update approvers immediately to keep workflows accurate.
