Sign in using Tablet QR Code (on app)

Updated over 2 weeks ago

The QR code on a site tablet is a revolving code that changes every 30 seconds for security. This prevents anyone from reusing a picture or screenshot to sign in fraudulently. If your site tablet is configured for QR code sign-in, workers will need the Chime app on their mobile device.

When signing in, they scan the tablet’s QR code, complete a selfie, and review any required documents before finishing the process.

For teams who prefer not to use mobile devices, there is also the option of PIN code sign-in (see Sign in using PIN Code).

Check setup – Ensure the site tablet has been fully configured before use (see Setting up a Site Tablet).

Sign in using QR Code

  1. On your Chime App, tap the Sign In button. The camera will open automatically with a blue square.

  2. Point the blue square at the QR code on the site tablet.

  3. Take a selfie – Position your face clearly in the centre of the screen. Remove hats or sunglasses that obscure your face.

  4. (If prompted, read and digitally sign any required documents before proceeding.)

  5. Tap the Finish button on the tablet. You are now signed in and ready to work.

  6. At the end of the day, or when leaving site, repeat the same process to sign out.

Use Case

This method can be used by the entire team once the site tablet is set up and configured for QR code sign-in.

💡 Tips

  • Remind workers that the QR code refreshes every 30 seconds, so screenshots won’t work.

  • Ensure good lighting for selfies to make face match smoother.

  • Enable PIN code login as a backup for workers without smartphones.
