Requesting Time Off

Request time off directly from your mobile app

You can quickly request time off directly from the Chime mobile app. Once submitted, the request goes to the designated approver and you can track the status in real-time.


Request Time Off

  1. Open the Chime app on your mobile device

  2. Tap the Time Off tile from the home screen

  3. Tap the Request Leave button

  4. Select the Request Type from the list (e.g., "Annual Leave", "Sick Leave", "Training Day")

  5. Optional: If prompted, select the Site/Project you're requesting time off for

  6. Choose the duration:

    • One Day: Select the date, then choose Whole Day, AM Only, or PM Only

    • More Than One Day: Select the start date and end date

  7. Optional: Enter a Reason if required or if you want to add context

  8. Tap Submit

Your request is now submitted and will appear in the "Pending Decision" section of your Time Off screen.

Double click on it to view more detail. Here you can:

  • View status

  • Add comments

  • Withdraw your request

Once approved, it will move to the "Approved" section and your allowance will be updated accordingly.


Use Case

This feature is used by all employees who need to book time off. It's the primary way for operatives, site staff, office staff, managers, and anyone else to request holidays, sick days, or other types of leave.

The process takes less than 30 seconds and eliminates the need for emails or paper forms. Employees can see their request status in real-time and receive updates when it's been approved or declined.

  • Submit requests as early as possible, especially for busy periods like school holidays or Christmas

  • Check your remaining allowance before requesting to ensure you have enough days available

  • If you need to request time off for someone else (e.g., manager booking for their team), this needs to be done on the desktop
